Selects Academy at SKS to Stand Up to Cancer in Charity Game

November 7th, 2017

The Selects Academy at South Kent School U16 and U18 teams will play the North Jersey Avalanche in a charity hockey game Friday, December 1, 2017 at 6:00pm. The event will take place at Woodbridge Community Center in Woodbridge, NJ and will raise funds for the American Cancer Society.

Selects Academy at South Kent Director Devin Rask says, “We are looking forward to playing in the Stand Up To Cancer games with the NJ Avs and are excited to be using our programs and hockey to create awareness for such a great cause.” Rask, who is also the U16 Head Coach, notes that special jerseys will be worn to honor those who currently have or have previously had cancer. Each athlete will choose the name of a survivor or someone who has passed away from cancer to sport on the back of his jersey.

The fundraising goal is $50,000 and donations have reached $17,550. Organizer Amy Cimino adds, “All of us have been affected by this disease. Any and all donations to fuel the fight against cancer is greatly appreciated.”
