South Kent Kicks Off Its 94th Year

September 7th, 2017

South Kent School was proud to welcome 170 students and their families to campus for its 94th year on Wednesday, September 6. Happy returners and excited new faces were seen at registration and across campus, greeting one another on a wonderful day that couldn't be dampened even by the rain.

Students this year hail from over 20 countries and 19 American states. This diverse group with varying backgrounds and interests has joined together to start (or continue) their Hero's Journey at the School, where they will learn to employ the founding principles of simplicity of life, self-reliance, and directness of purpose.

This academic year is sure to be better than ever, with recent improvements and renovations to campus like a turf field, newly paved roads, updated Science Building, and a new roof on the Brown Gymnasium. In addition, a culinary arts classroom building will begin to take shape at the School's North Campus this fall. With a rich curriculum including hands-on, innovative classes in the Center for Innovation program as well as project-based, interactive learning in traditional subjects, South Kent boys will have every opportunity to grow, create, challenge themselves, and succeed this year.

From the physical upgrades to the latest technology to the guidance and support offered from dedicated faculty and staff, South Kent is primed to have another wonderful year as a leader amongst private boarding schools.

“We are thrilled to begin this new academic year,” said Head of School Andrew Vadnais. “With 93 years of history behind us, we look forward with the expectation that the best is yet to come.”
