Our Very Own CCYHA Selects U15 and U16 Teams Make Nationals!

March 24th, 2017

We are proud to announce that both our U15 and our U16 CCYHA Selects Hockey teams have made it to the USA Hockey 2017 National Championships!

U15

"We are very excited to be heading to nationals in a couple weeks and look forward to the great competition!!!  This group is focused and motivated and as a team are not satisfied with just getting to Nationals, there is one more goal to accomplish. I'm proud of both U16 and U15 and all the hard work the players and coaches have done to get to this point, it should be a fun couple weeks!" said coach Devin Rask.

When asked about the tournament, team captains Will Margel, Ethan Phillips and Simon Mack enthusiastically explained, "At this point we're looking forward and ready to step up and prove that as a team we deserve to be there. Great teams step up in big situations and this tournament is our opportunity to do so!"

The U15 tournament is being held in the area of Phoenix, AZ from Thursday, April 6 through the 10. Details of the games are not out yet, but we will update our website once they have been published by USA Hockey.

U16

"We are very excited and eager to have the opportunity to compete for a National Championship in Pittsburgh, PA in April. Competing for a National Championship has been one of our goals since we started the season back in September. We are very proud of the work that our U16 team has done up to this point, especially capturing a Regional Championship in November and a USPHL Championship in February, but we know there is still more work to be done. We realize that competing in the National Tournament is a great accomplishment and opportunity for our program but we are going to Pittsburgh with a purpose and I am confident that if our U16 group can stay focused and committed to what we need to do as a team that we can make a deep run in the National Tournament in a couple of weeks". said Coach Matt Plante.

"Throughout the year, our U16 team has had a lot of success, which has come from each and every one of us buying into the process, whether it be systems, attitude, or even practice intensity. The bond we players have with each other is something special and puts us above other hockey clubs. Although we are not done, we still have one more leg in the triple crown and that is to win a National Championship in Pittsburgh. As a Captain, I am proud to describe this team as determined, hard working, intense, talented and passionate… and I believe that these qualities will play a pivotal role in helping us to accomplish the task of capturing the National title." said Parker Ford, Junior Forward.

Sophomore Defenseman Zachary Jones added, "Being captain of the U16's this year has been a huge honor and I am proud that we are one of the, if not the, most hard working teams in the country and it has led to success on the ice. It has been great to see the guys with all of the ups and downs be so positive and everyone wants to be at the rink every day and work as hard as we can so we can be successful. We know that we have one more step to complete the three for three and I believe that when everyone on the team buys in, like we have been doing, we can compete and win against any team in the country."

The U16 tournament is being held in Pittsburgh, PA from Thursday, April 6 through the 10. Details of the games are not out yet, but we will update our website once they have been published by USA Hockey.
