SKS: The First Century

In 2023 South Kent School will be 100 years old! One of the ways we plan to celebrate is with the publication of a school history entitled South Kent School: The First Century. Paul Abbott has agreed to help compile and edit the volume but we hope the main authors will be those of you who witnessed and participated in the making of South Kent School history.

Flyers Defenseman Gostisbehere ’11 Invites Hockey Team from Alma Mater, Marjory Stoneman Douglas, to NHL Game

Shayne Gostisbehere ’11 isn’t just a South Kent School alumnus. Before coming to the Hillside, the Philadelphia Flyers defenseman attended Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School for two years. A native of Pembroke Pines, FL, the tragic events of February 14 hit close to home, literally: not only was he a student at Stoneman Douglas, but his grandparents live only a mile from the school.
Head of School Traveling to China

Head of School, Andrew Vadnais along with Fourth and Fifth Form Dean, Chief Operations Officer, Nancy Lyon, will be traveling to China at the end of March and would love to meet up with South Kent Alumni, Families, and Accepted Students.
Kent Art Association Features Work from 21 South Kent Students

Artwork from 21 South Kent School students has been selected for the Kent Art Association student show and will be on display the weekend of March 10-11 from 1:00-5:00 pm.
Prep Basketball to host NEPSAC Class AA Boys' Basketball Tournament Quarterfinal Wednesday

The quarterfinal matchup is 5pm, Wednesday 2/28/18 with the SKS Prep Basketball team taking on the MacDuffie School in a home game in Brown Gymnasium.

Two South Kent School alumni have been nominated for the Hobey Baker Memorial Award, which recognizes the top NCAA men’s ice hockey player in the United States each year. Nominees of this honor are not just selected for their athletic prowess, but also their “teamwork, dedication, integrity, exceptional play, humility, and, above all, character.”
Payton Blynn ’18 Named to United Soccer Coaches All-American Team

Payton Blynn ’18 is seeing the culmination of a great high school soccer career. Not only did he officially sign earlier this month with St. John’s University Red Storm, an NCAA Division I men’s soccer team, but he was also named to the 2017 United Soccer Coaches High School Boys All-America Team.

Two current South Kent School students have signed with NCAA Division I men’s soccer teams. Payton Blynn ’18 and Vinícius Fernandes ’18 made it official on Wednesday, February 7, 2018 – National Signing Day.
Fourth Form Presents Galileo Trial for 19th Year

The Fourth Form at South Kent School presented a lively mock trial on Friday, February 2, 2018, of Galileo Galilei, a polymath who was tried for heresy because of his heliocentric view of the solar system.
