The 2015-2016 Prefects Passing the Torch to Next Year's Prefects!

South Kent School’s 2016-2017 prefects have been nominated, declared and chosen!

The Call to Adventure affinity group prides itself on pushing the boys who take part to new limits. No experience encapsulates this goal more than the yearly trip to the Westward. Led by Patrick Bonis, this year's Call to Adventure group traveled all the way to Colorado and Utah.

The 2016 SKS Fair was held in the Brown Gymnasium on April 28, 2016. The event featured some of our best and brightest showcasing projects that had some connection to our Center for Innovation programming.

The Center for Innovation at South Kent School continues to be a leader in modern education. One of its more unique classes this year focused on setting up a weather balloon and letting it fly. The flight occurred on Friday, November 20th in the cool, early morning air that was calm enough to allow for a safe journey. 

The Center for Innovation is a program that embraces change. To consistently provide students with the cutting edge academic excellence that South Kent School is known for the program adapts to the changing world around it. One of the best examples of this evolution is the inclusion of a new lab area located in the school’s library. The room has been set up to accommodate some of the CFI’s cutting edge classes including applied technology courses and thought incubation.

If you were told about a program that is one of the top in the country for college recruits in the USA Hockey U16 and U18 League, you would likely imagine a huge, longstanding organization who has been churning out star athletes for many years. While the longstanding part is certainly true, South Kent School is anything but large.

On February 12, 2015, Ahmed Al Ameri ‘15 began a cultural tradition and created a winning SKS Fair project with a dinner from his home country, the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

South Kent School's Czech Student Exchange Program celebrated its 10th consecutive year with a trip to Brno, Czech Republic!

From New York all the way to Hollywood, he’s known as Bang Bang. Here on the Hillside, however, we call him Keith. Since his days at South Kent School, Keith McCurdy ‘04 has become a professional tattoo artist to celebrities such as Rihanna, Katy Perry, Adele, Miley Cyrus, Justin Bieber, Cara Delevingne and more. Recently, he returned to speak to current students about his “Hero’s Journey.” This transformational experience is a vital foundation for the curricula here at South Kent, led by Head of School Andrew Vadnais and inspired by the works of Joseph Campbell.

It was an unforgettable night on Saturday, April 11th, for South Kent School alumnus Anthony Florentino '13, who helped his team win the NCAA Division I National Men's Hockey Championship. The Providence Friars won in a thrilling 4-3 finish versus Boston University. It was Florentino who scored Providence's first goal in the final game of the Frozen Four, garnering excitement from fans both in the rink and on social media.
