Robert Sanger Dickerson Sept. 9, 1940 – Apr. 9, 2019
Robert Sanger Dickerson went to be with the Lord on April 9, 2019, at Northside Cherokee Hospital in Canton, Georgia.
Bob was born on Sept 9, 1940 in Plainfield, New Jersey. He grew up in Red Bank, New Jersey where he graduated from Red Bank Regional High School. He then attended East Tennessee State University, but decided to join the U.S. Navy in 1964 as a Communications Technician where he was deployed for 2 years in the Philippines. After his time in the service, he worked as a Contracts & Procurement Coordinator for the Department of Defense. There he met his wife of 47 years, Judy, and they had two children, Beverly Ann and Darlene Danielle. The family resided in the Winter Park area until 2018 when Bob and Judy retired to Woodstock, Georgia. While in Orlando, they were members of First Baptist Church Orlando where Bob was a Deacon for over 10 years. Bob was a boat fanatic and his nickname was Sailboat Bob. He grew up sailing the Navesink River and was a member of the Monmouth Yacht Club in his youth. In addition to sailing, he played numerous sports over the course of his life, including hockey, football, baseball, and surfing. Some of his best times and memories were on his boat in the St. John’s River in Orlando. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Beverly Sanger Dickerson and Regina Reid Dickerson; and brother, Reid Nelson Dickerson.
He is survived by his wife, Judy; daughter, Dawn Dickerson Blanco and husband, Noel; daughter Beverly Dickerson Weld and husband, Jim; and daughter Darlene Dickerson Dangel, and husband, Brian; as well as his grandsons and granddaughters.
