Douglas J. Heffer ’73
June 7th, 2020
Doug Heffer sailed away peacefully on June 7, 2020. He was surrounded by love with his wife of 29 years, Maureen, and his cherished son, Conor, by his side.
Doug was born and raised in Rochester, New York. He graduated from South Kent school and the Rochester Institute of Technology. Doug achieved great success in the printing industry before starting his own company, Diameter, over 10 years ago.
Doug was an elite hockey player through prep school, college and beyond. He skated with the NSSA for many years and always enjoyed a Bruins game.
Doug was a passionate sailor and proud owner of Nellie II, his pristine 35-foot J-Boat. Nellie II brought great joy to Doug and all who sailed on her. Doug was a 20-year member of the Jubilee Yacht Club. He sailed every chance he got and always enjoyed a cocktail on the deck.
Doug cherished his lifelong friends and he is missed and celebrated by classmates, hockey guys and all of the sailing folks that shared his passion.
Doug leaves behind his loving wife, Maureen, one son, Conor, and brothers, Lance and Jeff. He was predeceased by his father, Jim, mother, Mil, and beloved brother, Tim. He will be missed by extended family of in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Fairwinds and broad reach Doug, we will love and miss you forever.
