David G. Angus '51

David Gunn Angus “Big Dave,” 89 yrs. old, a son of the late William and Olive (Gunn) Angus of Bedford, NY, passed away peacefully on November 13, 2022.
David grew up in Bedford and went to South Kent School in CT in 1944 and graduated in 1951. He enjoyed playing all sports but excelled as a hockey goalie, which he continued to play through college. Dave attended Columbia University in 1951 and graduated in 1955. David was a member of Alpha Delta Phi Fraternity. He also attended Carnegie Institute of Technology in Pittsburgh for 2 yrs. And went to work for William Angus Stone Setters in NYC until he was drafted in 1956. David was stationed in Fort Belvoir, VA, and was honorably discharged in 1958 and went back to NYC, where his son William Angus was born in 1961. He was called back to service for 1 year in Fort Gordon, working with the Army Corps of Engineers for the Pentagon. In 1962 Dave went back to NYC and joined Holyrood Episcopal Church as a vector for 2 yrs. He was a member of St. Andrew’s Society and American Legion in Katonah, NY, and a lifetime member of St. Matthews Church in Bedford. In 1973 David moved back to Bedford and opened Bedford Hills Liquor Store and partnered with THE BEDFORD SPORTSMAN Store. Later, he joined Doug Crossett and Mike Desimone in the Michaels trilogy of restaurants, where he remained until retiring at 72. In 2006, David and Bobbi moved to Lebanon, PA, to spend some wonderful family time adventures with family and enjoy his JOHN DEERE.
David is survived by his loving wife Roberta (Hospodar) Angus, a son William Angus of Balto, PA, 2 grandsons Christopher and Philip Angus of PA, a sister Arney Pulford of Wethersfield, CT and many nieces and nephews.
David’s final thoughts “I didn’t make a million dollars in life, but I made many friends worth a million.”
A memorial service will be planned in the future in NY.
