South Kent School Hosts Summer College ID Clinics

July 2nd, 2021

As summer begins to heat up, South Kent School will again host two days of clinics on July 31st and August 1st, which will see more premier competition and recruiting opportunities for top prospective college players. Click the link to register to be seen by the best college programs in the country.

Each clinic features the chance to be coached by one of the college coaches during a training session.  Then each player gets approximately 90 minutes of game action in full match.  Since all play happens on only one field, the college coaches are able to direct their focus on the small group of players attending each session.  This personalized approach has been very successful in allowing attendees to be recognized and recruited.

South Kent School Head Coach Owen Finberg said, “These clinics have always been a great avenue for our players to show their ability and increase their recruiting opportunities. They have also been very helpful for me in evaluating potential recruits for our School and we look forward to hosting many more.”

The School’s Farr Field has seen many coaches visit from the best college soccer programs in the country over the past several months.  In collaboration with Futbol Goals USA, South Kent School has been the site for several sold out, successful recruiting events for prospective college soccer players.

Farr Field was the site for three events this past February and March that brought some of the country’s top Division III academic institutions and soccer programs.  Bates College, Brandeis University, Connecticut College, Gettysburg College, Hamilton College, Hobart College, Middlebury College and Wesleyan University, in addition to several Division III colleges, have all been represented at our recent clinics.

The restrictions placed on Division I live recruiting by the NCAA, were lifted on June 1 after keeping coaches away from the fields for over a year due to the pandemic.

On June 2nd and 3rd, more than 30 Division I coaches joined several other coaches from Division II and III, for two days of high level competition and recruiting exposure.  National powers, like defending national champions Marshall University, Boston College, Boston University, Columbia University, Dartmouth College, Harvard University, Lehigh University, Michigan State University, Seton Hall University, Southern Methodist University, University of Connecticut, University of Louisville,University of Maryland, University of New Hampshire and Yale University were all in attendance.
