Two South Kent School alumni have been nominated for the Hobey Baker Memorial Award, which recognizes the top NCAA men’s ice hockey player in the United States each year. Nominees of this honor are not just selected for their athletic prowess, but also their “teamwork, dedication, integrity, exceptional play, humility, and, above all, character.”

Payton Blynn ’18 is seeing the culmination of a great high school soccer career. Not only did he officially sign earlier this month with St. John’s University Red Storm, an NCAA Division I men’s soccer team, but he was also named to the 2017 United Soccer Coaches High School Boys All-America Team.

Two current South Kent School students have signed with NCAA Division I men’s soccer teams. Payton Blynn ’18 and Vinícius Fernandes ’18 made it official on Wednesday, February 7, 2018 – National Signing Day.

The Fourth Form at South Kent School presented a lively mock trial on Friday, February 2, 2018, of Galileo Galilei, a polymath who was tried for heresy because of his heliocentric view of the solar system.

The National Hockey League (NHL) Central Scouting Midterm Rankings have been announced, and five former South Kent School students have been named to the North American Skaters list. Devin Rask, Director of Selects Academy at South Kent, noted that this was the highest number of South Kent alumni to ever be on the NHL Draft Prospect Rankings at once.

Walter Moore has been named the 2017 Northeast Region High School Assistant Coach of the Year by United Soccer Coaches.

Congratulations to the students who earned High Honors for the fall term! As is tradition, students who received High Honors enjoyed a celebratory meal at Head of School Andrew Vadnais’ home. The dinner, which took place on Monday, January 22nd, honored seven boys who earned this academic achievement.
 

It is with great sadness that we share the news of beloved faculty member M. Willard “Wink” Lampe’s passing on Wednesday, January 17, 2018. Wink was a kind, gentle presence on campus at South Kent School in his roles as Dean of Faculty, Foreign Language Department Coordinator, and Teacher of English and Latin. This great loss was felt across campus among students, faculty, and staff.

This year's Selects Academy at South Kent School Legacy Elite Hockey Invitational will be hosted at the Stockdale Arena and feature all three Selects Academy teams (U18, U16, U15) as well as a slew of talented other teams including the Virtua Hockey Club, Seacoast College Prep, Buffalo Regals, Long Island Gulls, Team Maryland, Gilmour Lancers,  and Mercer Chiefs.

Students in Patrick Bonis’s Physical Science class are having fun with project-based learning; this time, using the force. Some South Kent School students have learned to float a Lego piece through the air, and no, they are not Jedi trainees; they’re simply using the science of magnetic force.
