Thank you to all the graduates, their families, and friends who joined us for an unforgettable 99th Prize Day Weekend.

SCHEDULE
Friday, May 12, 2023
8:30 a.m. – 9:50 a.m. | A.M. Block class for all students. Last class of the academic year. |
1:00 p.m. | Prize Day Rehearsal for all graduating Sixth Form and Postgraduate students – location to be announced. |
5:30 – 6:00 p.m. | Class of 2023 Chapel Service – St. Michael's Chapel. This service kicks off our Prize Day Weekend festivities. All graduates and their guests are welcome. |
6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. | Class of 2023 Prize Day Banquet & Awards Ceremony – Joseph J. Brown Gymnasium. Sixth Form and Postgraduate students may leave campus with their families after the Banquet and Awards Ceremony, but if they do so, they will not be permitted to return to campus until the following day. Any student who leaves campus must complete a travel pass on Orah prior to the evening. If plans change last minute, parents/guardians should check out their students with the Evening Point Person (EPP) before leaving campus. |
10:30 p.m. | For students staying on campus overnight, check-in is at 10:30 p.m. |

DIPLOMA FORMS
Parents or guardians of graduates from the Class of 2023, please click the button below to fill out a diploma form for your student(s). The form will ask you to provide your graduate's full legal name as you would like it to appear on his diploma. If you have more than one student graduating, please fill out a form for each graduate.
EVENT DETAILS
Why do we call it “Prize Day”?
The tradition of Prize Day allows for the presentation of cups and other academic awards. The cups and awards recognize student achievement over the course of their time here at South Kent.
Class of 2023 Prize Day Banquet and Awards Ceremony
All graduating Sixth Form and Postgraduate students and their guests are invited to join us for the Class of 2023 Prize Day Banquet and Awards Ceremony on Friday, May 12 at 5:30 p.m., starting in St. Michael’s Chapel. Dinner will be served following the Chapel service in Joseph J. Brown Gymnasium. Academic, athletic, and School awards will be handed out to Sixth Form and Postgraduate students. All graduate guests and family members are welcome at this event.
Class of 2023 Prize Day Ceremony
The Prize Day ceremony will take place on Saturday, May 13, starting at Joseph J. Brown Gymnasium at 10:00 a.m. and ending at St. Michael’s Chapel. The School will provide lunch for graduates and their guests at the conclusion of the ceremony. Lunch will be served in the Courtyard outside of The Old Building, weather permitting. In the event of inclement weather, lunch will be served in the Dining Hall. All graduate guests and family members are welcome to the Prize Day Ceremony and lunch.
DAY OF PROCEDURES
Graduates are expected to gather in the Courtyard outside of The Old Building at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 13. Traditional South Kent ties will be distributed to the boys during the initial gathering. Boys should be in graduation attire before arrival. Photographs, including a Class of 2023 photo, will be taken after the ties have been handed out. Graduates and faculty members will process into Joseph J. Brown Gymnasium to begin the graduation ceremony promptly at 10:00 a.m. We expect the ceremony to last approximately two (2) hours, followed by lunch. Once the ceremony and lunch are over, boys can depart campus as long as their rooms have been cleared.
Prize Day Graduate Attire
The student dress code for Prize Day is the following:
- Navy Blue Blazer
- White Button-Down Shirt
- Khaki Pants
- Dress Shoes
- Black Belt
- Dark Socks
- Tie (will be provided)
Guests
The School suggests that each graduate bring up to six (6) guests for both the Friday Night Banquet & Awards Ceremony and the Saturday Prize Day Ceremony, but more will be allowed if needed. Please indicate the number of guests who will be in attendance for each event in your RSVP form.

PARKING & ACCESSIBILITY
Building and Grounds staffers will help guide visitors to parking once they arrive on campus. Accessible parking and seating is available. Guests who have accessibility needs or concerns may contact the Director of Parent Relations Carol-Ann Bruen by email or phone at 860-927-3539 ext. 206.
LIVESTREAMING
For those who cannot make the in-person event, the Prize Day Ceremony will be livestreamed on Saturday, May 13, starting at 10:00 a.m. All graduate names and diplomas will be read, whether they are present or not at the event. The video will also be available after the event.
PHOTOGRAPHY
A photographer will capture students receiving their diplomas and other photos throughout the weekend. 2023 Prize Day photos will be available to download for free two weeks following Prize Day on the South Kent School's SmugMug website. Use password sks1923 to get into the site.
